Play in the pirate park

The Noosa River Pirate Playground is covered by sail shades to keep the little ones protected from the sun. The park has six slides, rope climbing apparatus, three-person swing and a large, fenced wheelchair-accessible swing. Set within beautiful surroundings, the park is a free, fun and relaxing place to spend an afternoon.

There’s a large undercover area to relax under, BBQs and plenty of picnic tables and seating around the park. It has its own beach next to the Noosa River, where the water is still, making it ideal for small kids to paddle.

Discover the Noosa National Park

The Noosa National Park is a beautiful, protected headland that if full of wildlife and tropical plants. There’s several trails that will take you through the park and along the coastline, where it’s easy to embrace nature and the outdoors.

With several lookouts and beaches along the coastal track, there is plenty of places to stop for a picnic, swim or to spot dolphins! With so many sights to see in the park, it’s a great activity to do more than once on your holiday.

Discover Noosa’s Beaches

Swimming, swimming and more swimming – that’s what a summer holiday’s all about! And as the saying goes, “the best things in life are free”. Noosa’s beaches are some of Australia’s finest and safest, which makes them perfect for kids.

Noosa Main beach is patrolled all year round and is sheltered by the headlands, therefore the waves are a lot smaller and the sea is calmer.

The beaches throughout the National Park are very serene and more secluded, so are great for a leisurely picnic and for stronger swimmers.

Feed the fish along the Noosa River

Feeding the fish is a fun activity to keep your kids entertained while you relax along the Noosa River shoreline! The clear water of Noosa River is a fantastic place to spot several different types of fish and a great place to cool off at the same time.

Go off-road on Noosa North Shore

Take off to Noosa North Shore for the day! You can easily take the regular car ferry from Tewantin to Noosa North Shore. This trip is perfect for uninterrupted family time, where you can make your own adventures and go swimming, fishing and walking.

If you have a 4WD, or have hired one, then take the incredible drive along Teewah Beach all the way to Double Island Point in about 45km. Vehicle access permits are required to access the beaches and some tracks in the Cooloola Recreation Area.

Explore Noosa by Bike

With so many great pathways and stunning scenery throughout Noosa, it’s a great location for bike riding and exploring. If you’ve brought your own bikes, then biking is a brilliant free activity for the family. Otherwise, they’re many places you can hire a bike from, like Bike On. Are your kids keen to surf? Noosa is the best place for the whole family to learn how to surf. With calmer water, gentler waves and plenty of qualified instructors, it makes sense to surf in Noosa!

There are a few Noosa surf schools to choose from that will teach your kids safe surfing. And you too, if you’re up for it? Noosa Surf Lessons have qualified surfing coaches and provide everything you need. Surf lessons are in waist deep water with gentle waves and no prior experience is necessary. Learn to Surf will build your child’s confidence, surf safety, ocean awareness and safe board riding skills.

Hire a boat, kayak, SUP on the Noosa River

The beautiful Noosa River is a fantastic place to explore and with many hire shops lining the shoreline, you’re spoilt for choice! Take the kayaks or boat out to one of the several sandbar islands around the Spit, where you can enjoy a swim in the calm waters, only accessible by boat or kayak.

If you have ever wanted to try stand up paddle boarding, then Noosa’s the idyllic place to try. You can hire them and explore the waterways by yourself or take some lessons with experience instructors. Whichever vessel you choose – meandering around the Noosa River is a fun way to take in the spectacular sights.
