The Noosa water sports you need to try

Calling all water sports fans to Noosa! This incredible part of Queensland draws people from all over Australia and the world to its stunning natural environment, especially for its immaculate beaches and waterways. So, where better place to let yourself loose on the water?

There are endless Noosa water sports to try, however we think that kite surfing, jet skiing and surfing are some of the best to experience in our beautiful region.

Which ones will you try?

Noosa Kite surfing

The Noosa Spit at the Noosa River mouth is popular with kite surfers, so if you’re not quite ready to give it go, it’s a great spot to chill out and watch the kite surfers put on a show.

The Venturi type of wind is commonly observed here. When there’s a medium wind force, (16-25 kn/30-46.3 kph), kite surfers will come across a southeast main wind direction. However, the best wind direction is from northeast, which is ideal for free style kite-surfers.

The best time of year to kite surf here is between September and January. Although, Noosa is blessed with consistent winds, perfect for learning to kite surf for up to 10 months of the year!

Whether you’re a pro, or just starting out, you can hire equipment or take lessons from:

If you’re a newbie, don’t worry, as you’ll be in safe hands with the team at Noosa’s only council approved and permitted kitesurfing school. All instructors are IKO trained and handpicked by the IKO Level 3 Senior Instructor, who has over 7500 teaching hours.

Choose from a 1- or 2-hour private lesson or a 2-hour group lesson on stunning Lake Weyba at Adventure Sports.

Noosa Jet skiing

Jet skiing is an excellent way to take in Noosa’s surreal environment, where you’ll get to explore the ocean and river and see the national parks and hinterland from a new perspective.

Noosa’s all-round, temperate sub-tropical climate makes it the ideal place to try jet skiing no matter when you visit. Get ready to glide through the calm Noosa River water or ride the waves in the ocean and feel the rush.

When you’re not going at full speed, jet skiing is an excellent way to take in region’s wildlife including resident dolphins, turtles and humpback whales during the migrating season from June until November.

Jetski Noosa and Noosa Jetski Hire

Take an exhilarating Ocean Tour or the serene River Circuit from Gympie Terrace in Noosaville on one of Jetski Noosa’s or Noosa River Jetski Hire’s 2021 Seadoo GTI Pro jet skis.

The River Circuit is a great option for families, or those that are less experienced, who want to take it a bit easier and soak up the sights. Hire a jet ski for 30, 45 or 60 minutes.
